The Welcome

Arriving in Newlyn on New Road, you are invited in by layers of houses, seemingly on top of each other, all poised to take in the views of Newlyn harbour and Mounts Bay. A Newlyn embrace. This is a view that is probably seen (or not seen) by everyone who enters Newlyn everyday. The style of this work is really pared back, minimal detail but with carefully chosen graphical elements to describe the complexity.

This painting was first exhibited at the Newlyn Calling exhibition at the Summerhouse Gallery in Marazion, Cornwall in 2024. Signed and titled to the reverse.
