Approaching The Performance

Acrylic on Canvas Board, 60cm x 60cm

£950

This painting was part of my ‘An Audience With St Ives Bay’ exhibition which played with theatre themes, exploring the idea the chalets in Riviere Towans in Hayle were the spectators / audience with the sea and sky being the stage.

The composition places the viewer on a winding narrow pathway, seconds away from being able to see the theatre of St Ives Bay. Compositionally, I think of the work of Degas when I look at this, you are taken on a journey through the work with glimpses of the stage and audience in the top left.

Colour wise this is a bold statement, with vibrant strong hues describing the composition. The painting is abstracted but still reads figuratively.
