Apexes Towards Godrevy

Acrylic on Board, 54cm x 54cm

£800

This painting was part of my ‘An Audience With St Ives Bay’ exhibition which played with theatre themes, exploring the idea the chalets in Riviere Towans in Hayle were the spectators / audience with the sea and sky being the stage.

The idea of visually skimming chalet roofs to the sea in the background was first explored in the previous exhibition to this one. This one takes it a step further reducing the chalets down to more blurred dynamic structures. The looseness and texture is contrasted against a flat sea and sky with a crisp horizon line. The only interruption to the sea is the tree on the left and Godrevy lighthouse on the right. I felt like this was a turning point when I completed this painting which I felt successfully dealt with complexity in a simple way.

This painting was exhibited at the Summerhouse Gallery in Marazion, Cornwall as part of the ‘An Audience With St Ives Bay’ exhibition in 2023. Titled and signed on the reverse.

Framed in a white tray frame, ready to hang.
